Restaurants
(prices are estimated per person with wine)

Menage a Trois offers a wonderful menu of unique combinations prepared really well for under 9euros. It is located in the plaza Vila de Madrid on the opposite corner from Decathlon not far off the Ramblas with a terrace, bar, and dining room. Hip ambiance, cocina de mercado. 93.301.5542

La Botiga on Av. Josep Tarradellas, 155 is a cloth napkin catalan restaurant for a reasonable price. You can eat a fancy-ish meal 12-24euros. Wheelchair accessible cozy downstairs. Not far from Avenida de Sarria and Francis Masia 93.410.2704

Silvestre is beautiful, fancy, incredible cocina de mercado with great service. Wonderful for a romantic dinner, its located just below Via Agusta on Santalo, 101. Reservations are a must 93.241.4031. 25-30euros per person.

El Asador de Patrico. For family style traditional calcots, fish, anything grilled, right on the beach in Castelldefels. Tables inside and out. Make a reservation for a weekend table. A fun place to take a group of people for calcots. 93.664.3298. 20-28euros

Julius. All class. On San Joan de Borbo 66, not far from the beach. Very chic. Incredible presentation. Great services. Tables in the sun. They focus on little fish and seafood, as well as rice dishes. their secret is very shallow paella pans which make it so flavorful. 30-45euros. Barceloneta. 93.224.7035

Taktika Berri. c/Valencia 169 for incredible basque tapas. Or a pricey sit down meal, but only with reservations way ahead of time 93.453.4759. Closed Saturday nights.

El Hostal de Rita c/ Arago 279 near Paseo de Gracia is supposed to be very good and not not too expensive. 93.487.2376. about 15euros.

Shopping
Check out Lefties, on Pelayo with Plaza Universidad. Its a Zara outlet with really cheap prices, and lots of stuff downstairs. It takes some digging through, but there are tons of bargains to be found.

Movie
The Girl with the Pearl Earring La joven de la perla is now out in english at Floridablanca, Les Corts, Verdi, and Icaria. I found both the book and the movie highly enjoyable. The story of Vermeer through the life of his maid.
